What makes a merge playable work

First merge in two seconds
A hand drags two matching items together before the player has read anything.

A short chain with a visible top
Five or six tiers, a cup to a grand cake or a seed to a golden tree, so the player can see what they are building toward.

Leave room on the board
Keep 20 to 30% of the cells empty. A full board leaves nowhere to drop and the player stalls.

The last merge transforms the scene
Quests guide the next goal, and the final merge upgrades the café or blooms the garden before the end card.
